Jumong (the founder of Goguryeo)'s wife's name was Soseono and she was the princess of Jolbon. She helped Jumong to found Goguryeo in Jolbon and become King of Goguryeo. But unfortunately, she was Jumong's second wife. Prince Yuri, the son of Jumong and his first wife, came to Goguryeo to find his father and Jumong made Yuri the Crown Prince. Soseono and her two sons Biryu and Onjo worried that one day Yuri would exile them away.
The mother and two sons left Goguryeo to find a place to found a new country. Biryu decided to settle down in Michoohol (now Incheon) but Onjo went down little more to the south eastern region. Onjo settled himself and his followers near river Han (now Seoul). Later, Biryu's country left their home because the sea made it impossible to engage in farming. They moved to Onjo's country, 'Sibjae (meaning ten officials)'. When they were accepted by Onjo, he changed his country's name to 'Baekjae' meaning one hundred officials.
